Mahabharata The traditional authorship of the Mahabharata is credited to the sage Ved Vyasa, who is also a significant character within the epic. According to the narrative itself, after Vyasa composed the story, he dictated it to Lord Ganesha, who then wrote it down as Vyasa narrated the tale Vyasa is a rishi with a prominent role in most Hindu traditions. He is also known as Veda Vyasa or Krishna Dvaipayana.
